Q11. Explain the Trinity

Explain the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and the integration into one? Will he recognize me when I leave this life?

Answer

The relationship of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is in some ways a mystery. However, there are
some basic descriptions that outline the characteristics of the Godhead.
1. God is a triune being, ie: 3 in 1
There is only one God, but in the unity of the Godhead there are three eternal and co equal persons
, the same in substance, but distinct in subsistance.
The triunity of God is an unfolding revelation, starting right from the book of Genesis and into the
NT.
In nature, there are a number of items that give us a physical (allbeit limited) example of ths
triune relationship.
a) An Egg:  Has the shell, the yolk and the white
Each of these parts is referred to as egg, and yet they can also be referred to in terms of their
individual character. When Im frying an egg in the pan, I don't usually referr to it as (Im having a
yolk and a white). I referr to these parts as an egg.
b) Water  Can exist in three different states and yet always remains as the chemical
   compound of water.
   Ice - Solid
   Water - liquid
   Steam - floating particules in the air
The individualality is not compromised by the unity, and the unity is not compromised by the
individuality.
Genesis 1:26
Then God said, "Let us(Plural) make man in our image(single).
Matthew 28: 19
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name(Single) of the Father and
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
2 Corinthians 13: 14
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be
with you all.
God will recognise those who are his children, because;
 1. He has put His holy Spirit to live within us giving relationship to Him.
 2. He has cleansed and washed our hearts through the blood of Jesus.
 3. He has ransomed our soul and has purchased us as His own.
Psalm 139: 1 - 6
 1 O LORD, you have searched me
       and you know me.
 2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
       you perceive my thoughts from afar.
 3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
       you are familiar with all my ways.
 4 Before a word is on my tongue
       you know it completely, O LORD.
 5 You hem me in—behind and before;
       you have laid your hand upon me.
 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
       too lofty for me to attain.
