Q3c. A Mediocre Christian
If you live as a mediocre Christian, do you still get salvation?
Answer 3c.
I think we need to be careful of comparison with others, and careful to obey all that the Lord commands us.What may be amazing for one person, may be pretty average for someone else. Eg: If Im a gifted tennis player with incredible hand eye coordination and skills, and I win first place in a local tournament that may be pretty average for me because of my capacity, yet for another person who has limited natural skill it may be their ultimate victory.
Jesus said that not all men will be judged the same, but each of us will be judged according to what we have in time, talents and treasures. We are all called by God to use these things not as much as others, but to the measure that we have been given them.
Luke 12:48
... For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more. If however, by mediocre christian life, we are not measuring ourselves with others, but are speaking of a heart that is mediocre towards God, thats a bit different. Jesus spoke pretty plainly about a half baked/ luke warm faith.
Revelation 3:16
..So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
I think the real down side of living a lukewarm christianity, is that you really know in yourself that
you coul be doing better, and again the conscience will be being pricked with guilt and unhappiness. We need to be authentic christians, not plastic fantastic. In this condition, when our heart condemns us, we struggle to have confidence in our faith, and are continually unsure of our place in God's kingdom.
