Q7. Why honour authority?
Why should we honour authority? What do you do if you see someone not doing this?
Answer 7
We are told to give honour to those in authority, because ultimately the final authority is God. Our human authorities, our parents, police, politicians, etc are representatives of God's ultimate authority.
These people have a job to do, and if we respect and obey them, we will be blessed. If we don't respect and obey them, we will have a shortened life, full of conflict. The first commandment with
a promise was about respecting the human authority of our parents.
Romans 13:1
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
Titus 3:1
Remind them (THE CHURCH) to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good
work,
Ephesians 6:2
“Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise:
