Q8. Ways God speaks

How does God speak to us? Briefly describe ways.

Answer 8

According to the bible, God speaks to us through a number of different means. These are some of the ways I have experienced God communicating to me.
1. Visions and dreams
Acts 2:17
‘ And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,Your young men shall see visions,Your old men shall dream dreams.
2. Conscience
Acts 24:16
...I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men.
3. Audible voice
Genesis 3:10
So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
Luke 9:35
And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!”
4. Inner voice of our spirit
1 Corinthians 2:11-12
For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.
5. Counsel of wise friends
6. Reading the bible
There are times when I have been reading my bible and I have had strong impressions in my mind, that the words I am reading are words that God is using to speak directly to me.Not just in a concept form, but in a very personal way, God often will warn me of temptations, or bring encouragement to me, or give me direction for my life. Its as if the words stand out strongly and my heart is deeply stirred when I'm reading them. This sounds a bit out there, but its true. Gods word also speaks to me and guides me in general life wisdom and instruction. I will memorise words of the bible that relate to areas in my life where I need to trust God and learn to depend on Him.

When I am in trouble or need help, often the words of these verses come back to my rememberance and they strengthen and encourage me in my trials and life in general.
