Building A Safe Zone for Kids

Dear Friends,
Over the last number of years, MCLC has been working on how to improve and develop a Safe
Zone for Children within the church.Two years ago we implemented our first Child Protection
Policies for the congregation and established a Child Protection Officer within the church.
As we continue to identify the needs of the Children and the Youth within the church, we will
be implementing a range of items that will further help in this cause.

Some of the items taking place in 2010 are as follows:

The Appointment of Kelly Gray as MCLC Children’s Pastor - March 2010     

All MCLC volunteers to obtain a current Working With Children Card - End of June 2010

Board sponsorship of $10.00 per card for workers and volunteers - April 2010

Clear Signage for the congregation indicating Safe Kids Zones - June 2010 

Child Protection Training for Leaders and Volunteers at MCLC - June 2010

Distribution of MCLC Child Protection Policies to MCLC Members - May 2010

On Sunday the 16th May we will be presenting these new areas to the church and outlining some
of the above mentioned items. 
I believe that the children and youth of our congregation represent the future movers and
shakers who will influence and shape the next generation. Our desire is to provide a safe
environment in which our young ones can be loved and cared for in an appropriate manner.

I would like to ask all church members to familiarize themselves with our Child Protection
Policy, helping us to maintain a safe environment in which our children can grow. 
If you have further queries in regards to Child Protection or would like to enquire about
volunteering for service in youth or children’s ministry at MCLC, please contact our office
admin who will refer you to the appropriate Ministry Leaders.
