The Parable of the Wheat 2-3-11

The Parable of the wheat
2-3-11

Recently in discussion with my dad (Ray) we talked about the concept of the unity of the
church and the work of the Holy Spirit in helping the church be a unified force in the world.
The discussions came out of a parable about the wheat that dad had recieved from the Lord.
I was blessed to read these thoughts, and i believe you will be also.
Jesus is still building His church, and in these last days, I believe that the church will
become radiant and glorious, reflecting the light and love of our Savior to the world.
Love and blessings

The following extract is written by Ray Ayres: 28-2-11
Sunday I saw a Church overflowing with people and as I looked it was as if I was looking at a
field of wheat ready for harvest. I was reminded that the fields are white (ready) to harvest
but the labours are so few. It was like God was filling my mind with incredible thoughts of how
we could build a Church that will stand in these latter days.
Jesus used wheat as one of his favourite in parables this was because the Jews are famous for
their ability to grow it.  They have surpassed all other countries with outstanding yields
from minimum rainfall, some 4 inches.  So they have an inner knowledge that is not learned from
books but from their culture of wheat.
As I stood in the church on Sunday I was aware that it was fully packed and perhaps that’s why
I saw it like a field of wheat.  As I contemplated on this I saw how simular it was to the
church.
• Firstly, the ground have been laid fallow by Godly preparation, the teaching and
training are its core practice for its leaders and members.
• Next the music reminded me of the new practice that is being recommended to wheat
growers of directing the tractors exhaust fumes (the noise & worship) into the ground
(the church) to deposit carbon in the soil.  This is the basic element of life
 (worship sustains our spirit).
• The selection of the seeds (the people) that make up the church, pastors, preacher/
teachers, interceders, leaders and members are the shield of the church.

When you plant a crop, the outside runs are the leaders because they stand on the edge they
receive more rain (Holy Spirit) feed on the Word etc.. and therefore they have a deeper and
stronger foundation in the church.  They need this just as the outside of the wheat crop has
to take the full impact of the elements (the enemy) to be able to stand.
Also, there is a small amount of wheat that gets spilt on the fire break.  These often come up
often very strong and healthy as they are not in competition with the rest of the crop, but
unfortunately they are easy prey to the elements LUKE 8:12-12 The devil has his sights on them.
Often without training and sharing they can lose their way.  Mostly these people have been hurt
by someone in the body and instead of dealing with it they stand aside and become very
vulnerable because of the isolation.
The leaders really need to make sure they put their roots into the Word as the shield of the
church will be strongly tested.  Again they have to make sure they can discern between the
tempest of the devil and the wind of the Holy Spirit that is there to pollinate the church.
How do they do this?  Just as the wind (Holy Spirit) blows over the crop, that is not what
pollinates it, it is the conjunction of the Holy Spirit and wheat heads blowing in the breeze
touching each other that brings about the pollination. It is only then that the grain is able
to yield a great harvest. Without this we would remain empty husks that would be ultimately
burned by the harvesters. MATTHEW 13:30
One of the most important role in the church is not done by the leaders but by the members.
They are the glue (made from wheat) that holds the church together.  Their role is one of
friendship and love that basically is the staple food for the body.  These are the people who
welcome strangers as we are called by Christ (MATTHEW 25:40) to do and I am sure that I saw
many of our people receiving their crown from Jesus because they did just that.
I felt grief in my spirit when I noticed that although the church was full, there was still
people that deliberately kept the chair vacant between them and the body.  I know in my heart
that they are hurting and need that touch that the church has been commissioned to give by the
Holy Spirit.
The next thing I saw was the unity in the church this enabled it to do many things that one
person on their own cannot do.  The scripture passage that comes to mind here is one will put
one thousand to flight and two will put ten thousand (Deuteronomy 32:30) more so,  the story of
Gideon defeating the Midianites with three hundred men. (Judges 7:7) inspired me because I know
this is basically the size of our church and the whole of Mandurah was on the scale of the
enemy.  Therefore the comments we’ve made in the past (winning Mandurah for the Lord) suddenly
became alive, meaningful and challenging.  It was at that time that I stopped having these
revelations but I am sure that God will not only continue this journey with me but he will
inspire the whole church to fulfil his Word and complete the tasks he has set before us.
